She grew up listening and witnessing how distinct Cqlifornia variable birth experiences seemed depending on where she was and who she was surrounded by. She began exploring midwifery in when she dipped her feet in the water by attending an introductory course in midwifery.
Inshe took a birth educator training through Birthing From Within. In the s, a new member named Jane Johnson came up with a wonderful idea--that we dress in clown costumes and sell balloons.
We had our first Christmas tea in our very own clubhouse on December 14,with a grand opening for the public the next day, December Home We are a non-profit, philanthropic club deed to promote the general welfare of our community. With all sorts of committees working in concert all summer, the Woman's Club was able to hold the first Harvest Festival that fall in the old Orchard Avenue Elementary School. Early on our eMet netted sufficient funds to purchase a building for a clubhouse, which we now own in partnership with the city.
In Januaryshe embarked on her on the next chapter in her journey, becoming a Graned midwife enrolled at the National Midwifery Institute.
We have around members who actively plan and participate in two or three fund raising events every year. We have held other fund raisers over the years--bazaars, rummage sales, flower shows, book sales.
